Construction has begun on the new Sarich Neuroscience Research Institute building at the QEII Medical Centre – designed to accommodate five of Western Australia’s leading neurological research organisations, including the Perron Institute.

A “sod turning” event on 23 June marked this milestone and in a media release Health Minister Kim Hames said the $37.7 million project heralds an exciting era in world-class neuroscience research in Western Australia.

In the building’s development Dr Hames acknowledged the immense role played by the Perron Institute board member Professor Bryant Stokes – a highly respected neurosurgeon and Department of Health acting director general – as well as the unprecedented generosity of the building’s major funder, the Sarich family.
