Emily McLeish is a PhD candidate investigating expanded T cell populations in an autoimmune disease known as Inclusion Body Myositis. Her PhD focuses on the phenotypical and genetic characterisation of discrete cytotoxic T cell populations using flow cytometry and next-generation/CITE-sequencing. The goal of her PhD is to gain a greater understanding of the pathogenic role of these expanded T cell populations, determine what their clinical implications may be, and identify targets for novel therapeutic strategies.
