Perron Institute Director Professor Steve Wilton spoke at TEDxPerth 2016 at the Perth Concert Hall in October.

TED.com is about ideas worth spreading and TEDx events are independently organised TED events.

Professor Wilton presented the ground-breaking treatment from his and long time colleague Professor Sue Fletcher’s team for Duchenne muscular dystrophy, which received accelerated approval via the US FDA in September.

There were 1,700 people in the auditorium, the largest group Professor Wilton has ever spoken to.

Professor Wilton also spoke in an open forum in a break and the audience had many questions.

Speakers on the day ranged from a radio astronomer, indigenous and sustainability educators, musicians, a social justice campaigner and an entrepreneur.
