The WA Marathon Club’s Perron Institute Bridges Fun Run offers stunning views of the Swan River and Perth skyline at every turn and is a celebration of fitness and community.
As well as having a fun time, participants lacing up their sneakers for this year’s event on Sunday, 6th April will be supporting a great cause.
Proceeds will be directed to advancing innovative research and improving the lives of those affected by Parkinson’s disease.
Parkinson’s is the fastest-growing neurological disorder worldwide, affecting millions of people. It is mostly sporadic but in about 14 per cent of cases overall, it is caused by a mutation in a single inherited gene.
Developing novel therapies to slow or halt the progression of Parkinson’s disease by targeting the underlying causes is a major area of research for the Perron Institute, based on the QEll campus in Nedlands.
Funds from the Perron Institute Bridges Fun Run will support a proposed potentially groundbreaking clinical trial, which is designed to investigate a promising neuroprotective therapy for this debilitating condition.
Open to people of all ages and abilities, the run invites families, friends and solo runners to register. From a leisurely stroll on this scenic route to a determined sprint, there’s a distance for everyone, with 10km and 5km options plus a 0.3km Kids Dash.
Online registrations close on Thursday, 3 April 2025 at 12pm, unless sold out.
