The West Australian newspaper editor Paul Murray meets Billy Ellsworth; a 16yo walking talking miracle

“It’s not every day that you come face to face with a walking, talking miracle.

His name is Billy Ellsworth, a 16-year-old American boy from Coraopolis in Pennsylvania, a tiny kid with a cherubic face who walks on his tippy toes like a ballet dancer.

Billy is one of those boys in every 3500 who has Duchenne muscular dystrophy, a genetic lottery that no one should win.

He was in Perth this week visiting the two Perth researchers who performed the miracle that sees him not confined to a wheelchair or dreading dying within a decade.”
