Alan Mackay-Sim

Emeritus Professor Alan Mackay-Sim, is a biomedical scientist and 2017 Australian of the Year. Professor Mackay-Sim received his PhD from Macquarie University in 1980, then subsequently studied at the University of Pennsylvania and the University of Wyoming. He was the director of the National Centre for Adult Stem Cell Research at Griffith University before his retirement in 2015. At the Perron Institute, Professor Mackay-Sim is collaborating with Professor Anthony Akkari, head of Motor Neurone Disease and Genetics Research.
