The Stroke Clinic at the Perron Institute provides a comprehensive and ongoing service for people who have suffered from a stroke, including complex cases which require a diagnostic or management opinion.
Dr David Blacker, Perron Institute’s Medical Director and clinic neurologist who specialises in the diagnosis and management of a stroke staffs the clinic alongside nursing and allied health staff. The clinic’s services include assessment post-rehabilitation discharge, ongoing care of people with stroke-related disabilities including language, mobility and cognitive issues, pain, spasticity and seizures. Clinic patients suitable for emerging restorative neurology programs may also be able to participate.
The Sarah Shellabear Stroke Fund has been established to raise money for Research and Education by creating the first Chair of Stroke Medicine in Western Australia in association with the Perron Institute and the University of Western Australia.
